Is There a TDI-Approved Insurance Test Prep Course?

Looking for TDI-approved insurance test prep? Start with what the official sources actually say. TDI’s standard resident General Lines application steps do not call for an approved test prep course.

Also, Pearson VUE’s Texas candidate handbook says neither TDI nor Pearson VUE endorses a particular study material. Candidates can choose their materials. That is different from an official recommendation for a school.

What TDI-approved insurance test prep means here

First, separate the license process from the study product. TDI lists the requirements for a license. A test prep course helps you study for the exam.

For the ordinary resident route, read TDI’s Life, Accident and Health instructions or Property and Casualty instructions. Other license routes have different requirements.

Next, check the study-materials section of the Texas Insurance Licensing Candidate Handbook. It describes the boundary on endorsement. This is the handbook linked by Pearson VUE when checked on October 4, 2026.

Approval for one purpose is not approval for every purpose

TDI has an education-provider approval process, including continuing education. Those categories serve specific purposes. They do not establish endorsement of every study product a provider sells.

So, if a page says “approved,” ask what approval it means. Check the course type and the claim’s official source.

What to look for in a course

Instead of relying on a badge, compare a course with the current exam outline. Ask what materials you receive and how you practice.

  • Does the course cover your license line?
  • Can you see which subjects it teaches?
  • Does the format fit the time you can give it?
  • Are its availability, access, and refund terms clear?
