Illustrative classroom concept showing adult students and two instructors
One instructor teaching.
One ready to help.
Two professional instructors in every live class.

Why choose Ace Prep?

Built around your test day.

Two instructors.
Help in the moment.

One teaches. One helps. Ask the question while it is still in front of you, in the Fort Worth classroom or live on Zoom.

The whole video course.
Included with live tuition.

When your two days at Gramercy Center are over, take the teaching home. Your matching Texas exam course comes from our own Pillowfort Studios, built right here in Fort Worth. Watch David explain aleatory, work through loss valuation, and teach the rest of your course. Pause, replay, and keep working until you pass.

A recruit-free classroom.
Your education comes first.

Sending your people to our Gramercy Center classroom in Fort Worth? You sent them to get a passing grade, not to staff somebody else’s agency. We will not poach your people. Nor will we let anyone else. Our instructors are here to teach.

The teaching comes first

Make sense of it.
Then make it stick.

We teach you what is on the exam—and ONLY what is on the exam. Your textbooks come from a practicing insurance agent with 20 years in the business, publishing insurance explanations in simple English since 2014. That experience helps turn confusing terms into explanations you can use. David Offutt cracked the code, so you can spend your study time on what you need to pass. Texas Department of Insurance license #1465807.

01 / UNDERSTAND

Insurance in plain English.

Remember Fort Worth’s Mayfest hailstorm? Picture a 90-year-old roof in historic Fairmount after a hailstorm. You have replacement cost coverage. Is that enough? Learn why rebuilding to today’s requirements can leave a gap—and which coverage addresses it. Real North Texas examples make the lesson stick.

02 / PRACTICE

Practice with a purpose.

We’re the only school with a licensed claims adjuster on staff. Angela Groves holds Texas All Lines Adjuster license #2874725. From a roof in historic Fairmount to a parking-lot accident, learn what the coverage actually means, then recognize what the exam question is asking.

03 / ASK

Help while you learn.

Two instructors keep the teaching fresh—and help keep you fresh, too. One teaches while the other is ready for your questions. Then they switch. You get a fresh voice, a different way to explain it, and help while the question is still in front of you.

The little words matter

You know the answer.
Or do you?

A familiar phrase can make you stop reading the question. These are the moments David likes to teach.

Life & Health

“Two years.”
Why that can be the wrong answer.

Every other school teaches that the answer to the suicide clause is “two years.” Learn why it’s not—and why it’s not on the test. Police officer Willie Johnson saved study time with this lesson.

Know what to study

“Fiduciary responsibility.”
Are you studying the wrong thing?

We knew fiduciary responsibility was not on the exam, and we never taught it. We knew they would take it off. We stay one step ahead so you can pass with ease.

Watch us teach.
Then decide.

You’re choosing the people who will explain the hard parts. Watch two short lessons from our on-demand courses, then open a page of the textbook. This is the teaching your course is built around.

Property & Casualty

What is the loss worth?

David works through the numbers: $1,000 replacement cost minus $600 depreciation equals $400 actual cash value. Those are different answers to different questions—the same distinction a Fort Worth homeowner needs to understand after a hail loss. About 90 seconds.

Life & Health

A small premium. A big possibility.

Aleatory, in plain English: a small premium against a large possible benefit. About a minute.

Made in Fort Worth. Owned by us.

Welcome to Pillowfort Studios.

Four screens. Two computers. Six cameras. Three microphones. Two prompters. Two green screens. Custom lighting. And a monkey piggy bank.

We built our own Fort Worth studio to make the teaching clear: David, the explanation, and the material you need to see. Your included on-demand course is a studio production made for learning, not a camera left running at the back of a classroom.

Textbook page explaining domestic, foreign, and alien insurance companies for the Texas insurance exam

Inside the textbook

Texas is special.
So is the way we explain it.

“Proof that Texas is SPECIAL!” That is how this page introduces domestic, foreign, and alien insurance companies. A Texas company is domestic; outside Texas is foreign; outside the United States is alien. Clear distinctions. A little personality. A book written by someone who loves this state.

Open the textbook page ↗

A real lesson from David

Two feet backward.
A lesson that stayed.

At a movie theater, David started to pull his minivan into a space marked for wheelchair access. His wife spotted the sign. He backed up about two feet—and struck a woman walking with her toddler.

The woman was on the ground. Her toddler was crying. David gave her his insurance information. It was a small movement in a parking lot, and suddenly liability insurance was personal.

“Why was she so mad? It was an accident.”

His wife had offered to hug her and pray with her. The woman wanted neither. David’s answer afterward was simple: “Honey, I hit her with my car.” Calling it an accident did not change what she had just experienced. That is a lesson in understanding the person on the other side of a claim.

And the insurance lesson? “I’m glad I had an umbrella policy.”

That is why David now parks facing out. It is also a way to teach bodily-injury liability, policy limits, and why an umbrella matters. An umbrella can add liability protection above the underlying home or auto policy’s limits. Knowing those words for the exam is one thing. Understanding why a family needs the protection makes the lesson stick.

TDI: how umbrella coverage works ↗

Try one yourself

Sounds confident.
Still wrong.

Think you can let AI teach you this and get a passing grade? AI still gets this one wrong to this day: a study card said a hit-and-run driver is treated as uninsured only for bodily injury claims. The AI agreed. Confident explanation. Wrong distinction. Would you have caught it before test day?

01 / THE QUESTION

Only bodily injury?

A driver hits your parked car and leaves. Nobody is hurt. Does that mean uninsured motorist coverage cannot help with the damage?

02 / THE DISTINCTION

The car matters, too.

Bodily injury and property damage are different coverages. Texas uninsured/underinsured motorist property damage coverage can pay for car repairs after a hit-and-run.

03 / THE SOURCE

Check the Texas answer.

The Texas Department of Insurance explains that collision or UM/UIM property damage coverage can pay for hit-and-run repairs. “Only bodily injury” leaves out the property damage coverage.

Read TDI’s explanation ↗

This is why you cannot trust AI to teach you the exam. A confident answer can teach you the wrong thing. Your preparation needs an instructor who checks the Texas answer, catches the mistake, and explains why.
